I had my summer hours this afternoon at work. We rode the Southbank Shuttle across
the river to Newport on the Levee to try a new restaurant that we just recently noticed
over on the street level called Redondo Taqueria...
On the way in, we took note of their really nice looking patio...
It's incredibly hard for us not to compare any taco shop to Bakersfield in OtR. So with
that incredibly high standard already being set, we started with the chips and salsa with
a wee-little side of guacamole for a whopping 3 bucks...
The salsa was very good and guacamole was pretty good but not anywhere near as good
as Bakersfield's. And at nada, you used to be able to get a salsa AND guac for like $7.
We ordered a sampler of three tacos for $11...
We ordered the Carnitas, Adobo Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly...
And we added the short rib taco for an additional $2.50...
They were all really tasty but small. Like two bites and you were done with each taco,
that small. We also ordered the short rib appetizer...
It was definitely the stand-out dish of our entire meal. And that rice that came with the
short rib was out of this world. Everything was delicious and flavorful especially that short
rib starter and we left very full but our bill with two beers each was twice as much as any
bill we've ever had at Bakersfield for the same amount or more food. Better food. It was
good and all. And it's nice to try something new but the next time we want some tacos
OR guac, we'll just be fighting the crowds to get back to Bakersfield or nada...
