Sorry for the lack of posts over the last couple days. I've been completely enthralled
by the Little League Baseball World Series on ESPN. Tonight was a dogfight for the No. 1
seed in US Pool B as the two undefeated teams, Chula Vista, California – who had hit 10
home runs in their first two games – and San Antonio, Texas.
By the end of the scrapping, San Antonio had handed Chula Vista its first loss in its last
11 games, a 6-3 victory guided by power and pitching that slotted the Southwest Region
Champions in the No. 1 spot in Pool B. Great game.
My favorite team of the tourney so far has been Willemstad, Curacao. They're just so fun
to watch play and their 12-11 thriller against Chiba City, Japan was a classic. The two teams
combined to hit three home runs, commit nine errors, throw seven wild pitches, and steal
five bases, including a key steal of home plate. (Click for wild video higlights.)
Japan Region Champion Chiba City took the lead four times, and Caribbean Region
Champion Pabao, from Willemstad, Curacao in the Netherland Antilles, rallied to
tie each time. It was a crazy entertaining game.
